Hayden got a lovely little virus this past week called Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease. Not really what you want your toddler to get when you have a 6 week old newborn at home. It started with a fever that woke him up in the middle of the night and progressed to a sore throat. I took him to the doctor that afternoon and they did a strep culture and checked him over. At that point there were no other obvious symptoms so he was diagnosed with a virus. He felt pretty crummy the rest of the day, but slept okay that night. The next day he woke up still feeling bad and complaining that his mouth hurt. After inspecting it I noticed blisters on his tongue and the back of his throat. I quickly called the doctor back and they explained that based on his previous symptoms and the progression of everything that this was what it was. The blisters did get worse, but with the exception of a few on one foot they stayed confined to his mouth. He has been pretty miserable, but as of today seems to be headed towards feeling better. There don't seem to be any new blisters and the old ones are disappearing. We've done our best to keep him out of contact with Henley, and are washing our hands like crazy hoping that the rest of us stay healthy.
Yesterday we were able to break out of the house into the backyard for some evening pool time! Even when Hayden is sick he loves the pool!
